After earning his B.S. and M.S. in Animal Science from Seoul National University, Yoo Yong, came to the United States to earn his PhD from Ohio State. After earning his degree, Yoo Yong stayed a year as a post-doc fellow.
Since 2001, he has been a professor at Seoul National University and Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Australasian Journal of Animal Science. Starting in 2003, Yoo Yong has served as Adjunct Senior Researched at the Livestock Experiment Station of the Rural Development Administration. He has also served as an external board member of the Daesand Farmsco Ltd and Dodram Swine Association. From 2008 to 2010 he was Chairman for the Department of Food and Animal Science Biotechnology.
His current research interests involve swine nutrition. Since returning to South Korea he has become internationally known for his expertise in the area. While a student at Ohio State, Yoo Yong worked at the OSU swine farm and observed their nutritional management practices. The knowledge he has built upon with his research has led to a research farm so productive that the Korean Minister of Agriculture has visited the farm to see how he achieves his results. Yoo Yong's reputation has led to his involvement in setting up swine facilities in North Korea, where he also trains individuals in swine management and nutrition.
A member of the American Society of Animal Science, Yoo Yong is also a board member and subject editor for the Korean Journal of Animal Science. He is also a member of the advisory committee for agriculture in the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Korea. In addition, he is also chairman of Korean Pork Industry and policy.
Yoo Yong and his wife, Won He Yoon, live in Seoul. They are the parents of Chungwoo Kevin Kim and Chungmin Jane Kim.
After earning his B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Ataturk University, Fahri came to Ohio State to earn his M.A. in Economics and M.S. and PhD in Agricultural Economics. Upon returning to Turkey, he accepted a position of assistant professor at Ataturk University in the Department of Agricultural Economics. After two years he was promoted to Associate Professor. In 2003, Fahri was named Vice Director of the Graduate School at Ataturk and since 2003 he has been a full professor. From 2006 to 2009, he served as Department Chair. Starting in 2008, Fahir has served as Head of the Office of International Affairs.
From 2003 to 2005 Fahri served as an Official Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in Turkey. In 2005, he served as a coordinator for a cattle breeding project in Erzurum Province. Starting in 2007, Fahri was named to the Chief Executive Committee for Cultural, Solidarity, and Development Association for Ispir and Pazaryolu Towns. From 2009 to 2011, Fahir was a member of the Bologna Specialist National Team in Turkey.
Fahir is a current member of the TMMO Chamber of Agricultural Engineers and the Turkish Agricultural Economics Association. He is a past member of the American Agricultural Economics Association and the International Association of Agricultural Economics.
Fahri enjoys photography, middle distance running, table tennis, swimming, sking, and judo. He and his wife, Serpil, live in Erzurum, Turkey. They are the parents of Zeynep, Kubra, Gulsum, and Ibrahim.
