Fourteen Honored with Alumni Awards

The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences Alumni Society proudly announces the recipients of the 2009 Alumni Awards. The awards will be presented on March 7, 2009, at the annual Alumni Awards Luncheon Program at the Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road.
The ceremonies will begin with a reception at 11 a.m., luncheon at noon, and the program to follow at approximately 1:15 p.m. Alumni are welcome to attend and assist in recognizing your friends, family, mentors, and teachers. Please reg-ister using the Alumni Awards Luncheon Reservations form on page 15.
The following individuals will be honored:

Meritorious Service to the College
Bernie Erven (B.S., Agricultural Education, 1960; M.S., Agricultural Economics, 1963), Columbus, Ohio, for his extensive and broad-ranging department, college, and university service, which includes service on numerous committees in almost every role.
Stan Joehlin (B.S., Agricultural Engineering, 1960; M.S., Agricultural Engineering, 1960), Curtice, Ohio, for his generous contributions of time, wisdom, and financial support to the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering.

Distinguished Alumni Award
Blannie E. Bowen (Ph.D., Agricultural Education, 1980), University Park, Pa., for his noteworthy accomplishments as a professor, researcher, scholar, and administrator.
Burk A. Dehority (Ph.D., Agricultural Biochemistry, 1957), Wooster, Ohio, for his impact on the Department of Animal Sciences, the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, and The Ohio State University in the field of rumen microbiology.
Ted Flickinger (Ph.D., Agricultural Education, 1976), Springfield, Ill., for his outstanding commitment to the field of parks and recreation.
Benson J. Lamp (B.S., Agricultural Engineering, 1949; M.S., Agricultural Engineering, 1952), Dublin, Ohio, for his career in industry and academia, and his service to his profession.
Charles V. Morr (B.S., Dairy Technology, 1952; M.S., Dairy Technology, 1955; Ph.D., Dairy Technology, 1959), Ashland, Ohio, for his record of achievement in
academic research, teaching, graduate education, student advising, publication, and involvement in national and international organizations.
Dale Runnion (B.S., Animal Science, 1939), Longmont, Colo., for a career that has earned him numerous honors of distinction for his work with livestock and publishing.
Russell Simmonds (B.S., Agricultural Economics, 1968), Plano, Texas, for his many accomplishments that began while he was a student at Ohio State and for his longstanding service to the community.

International Alumni Award
Seung Il Na (Ph.D., Agricultural Education, 1993), Seoul, South Korea, for his career as a university professor and administrator, researcher, and consultant and advisor for the Korean government.

Young Professional Achievement Award
Jane Fife (B.S., Agricultural Engineering, 1997; Ph.D., Agricultural Engineering, 2003), Powell, Ohio, for her significant work with spray and aerosol generation at Battelle.
Lindsay Hill (B.S., Agricultural Communications, 2002), DeGraff, Ohio, for her work in the rural radio industry and commitment to serving farmers, the rural community, her clients, and her team.
Jennifer (Bok) Leheska (B.S., Animal Sciences, 1998), Canyon, Texas, for her work in the meat industry specifically in regards to nutrition.
Kenya Nicholson (B.S., Food Science, 1998), Gahanna, Ohio, for her achievements in her profession, her continued commitment to the Department of Food Science and Technology, and her service to her community.

Winter 2009
Join us Saturday, February 21, to cheer on the men's hockey team as it takes on Michigan. Game tickets
may be ordered ahead of time for $4 each. For this event, we will be joining other alumni societies from across the university for a tailgate at the Longaberger Alumni House.
Spring 2009
On Saturday, April 25, the CFAES Alumni Society will host the annual Spring Game Tailgate in the Ag
Admin Auditorium. Food service will start at 11 a.m.
