THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF FOOD, AGRICULTURAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
Current Students
Admission
To learn about the admission criteria for the college's honors program select from the list below:

I am an Entering Freshman
To participate in the Honors program, entering freshmen for Autumn 2008 must do all of the following:
  • Score a 30 or higher on the ACT or 1340 or higher on the SAT
  • Rank in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class
  • Complete the Honors Affiliate Application through the University Honors Center (in addition to the standard university admission application).

After honors students are admitted, they must complete and submit an Individual Honors Curriculum Application by May 1 of the first year they're enrolled at Ohio State.

Students should consult with their advisor as they prepare their proposed curriculum. The Individual Honors Curriculum must be reviewed and approved by the Departmental Honors Program Coordinator and then forwarded to the CFAES office.

I am a transfer student or currently enrolled at Ohio State
Transfer students from other colleges or universities should have attained a comparable academic standing. For transfers and other current students to participate in the honors program they must:

  • Submit an Individual Honors Curriculum Application for review and approval to the Departmental Honors Program Coordinator
  • Have earned at least a 3.5 CPHR at The Ohio State University

Students benefit the most from honors programs if they are admitted before their junior year.
To remain in the Agriculture Honors Program, a student must not fall below a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 for more than two consecutive quarters.

To graduate in the Honors Program, a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above is required in all coursework.

I am interested in the Agriculture-Graduate (Combined B.S. and M.S.) Program
To be eligible for the combined graduate program, the students must:

  • Have completed 135-quarter hours of coursework
  • Earn a 3.5 cumulative grade point average in all coursework.
  • Submit a revised Individual Honors Curriculum identifying the graduate courses with an asterisk and including the signature of the Departmental Graduate Studies Chair.

Signatures are required from the Graduate Committee chair, Assistant Dean of Agriculture, Graduate School Dean, and the Registrar before the program is official. Graduate school fees are charged effective the quarter of admission.

Application Review
Applications are reviewed throughout the school year. Students who have an approved honors curriculum on file will receive the "H" designation as long as they continue to maintain progress within their program.

Special honors computerized degree audits will be available for those who have an Individual Individual Honors Curriculum Application on file in the college office.
