|The Office of International Programs in Agriculture (IPA) was established in 1955 to coordinate the international efforts of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES). The chief focus of our work is international development; our key funding partners include the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United States Department of Agriculture Foreign Agriculture Service (USDA-FAS), and Higher Education for Development (HED). IPA works to engage faculty and students in global programs related to food security and agricultural development, and assists in bringing international visitors, scientists and students to OSU. IPA also coordinates Peace Corps recruitment in Central Ohio.
- The Innovative Agricultural Research Initiative (iAGRI) is an ambitious five-year, $24M program to improve agricultural productivity and food security in Tanzania through graduate education and research. OSU-International Programs in Agriculture is the managing entity for this USAID-funded program, now in its second year.. For the 2012-13 academic year, 28 Tanzanian students were awarded scholarships for M.S. and Ph.D. study in the U.S. at OSU or one of its five. partner universities; 30 students were awarded scholarships for studies at African Universities.
- International Programs in Agriculture will host 9 trainees from Georgia for the USDA/FAS Cochran Program in Extension Management and Structure May 13-25.
In February, 2013 OSU surged ahead four places to place for the first time in the top 10 large universities in numbers of Peace Corps volunteers. Currently OSU has 80 graduates serving in the Peace Corps.
