About this program

About

Small creatures. Big impact. At Ohio State’s Department of Entomology, you’ll study the most diverse group of organisms on the planet — insects — and their essential roles in food production, ecosystems, and human health. From pollinators that sustain life to pests that challenge it, Entomology students explore how science helps us understand, protect and manage the natural world.

Here, you’ll dive into biology, ecology, genetics and environmental science while working directly with insects in labs, research fields and natural habitats. You might study how bees respond to pesticides, how insects influence global health or how climate change affects biodiversity. Whatever your curiosity, Entomology gives you the tools to turn it into discovery.

If you’re fascinated by science, nature and problem-solving, this major is a chance to explore — and make an impact that reaches far beyond the lab.

What can I do with this degree?
