Frequently Asked Questions
To be nominated for the CFAES Distinguished Senior Award, you must:
- Be an undergraduate major in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences
- Be graduating in spring, summer or autumn of this calendar year
- Have a strong academic record
Nominations highlight how you’ve grown and contributed during your time at Ohio State. Your nomination should include clear examples of:
- Service and involvement (student organizations, community service, leadership roles)
- Employment or internships
- Research and innovation
- Academic achievements
Reviewers also look for:
- Notable achievements
- Times you’ve faced and overcome challenges or adversity
- Your growth as a person and as a future professional
- Meaningful impact on your academic unit, the college, the university or your community
- How your involvement has shaped your plans after graduation
If you think you’re a strong fit, talk with your academic advisor, faculty mentor or your department’s main office about your unit’s specific nomination process and timeline.
For the CFAES Student Awards:
Students can apply on their own behalf or be nominated by a faculty member, staff member or fellow student.
Student Award recipients are then recognized at CFAES events, including the CFAES Awards Ceremony in April and the CFAES Olympics in March.
For the CFAES Student Organization Awards:
Anyone may nominate a student organization for an award. Award recipients are recognized at the CFAES Olympics in March.
Yes, any undergraduate and graduate student in CFAES from Columbus or Wooster graduating in the spring, summer or autumn semesters may attend the April celebration. However, you must register to attend.
