The CFAES Honors program is designed to challenge students to take a closer look at their interests through engaging classes and research.  Honors students work closely with faculty on research and present their findings at university‑wide conferences and forums. Through these experiences, they gain valuable skills that make them strong candidates for graduate or professional programs and the workforce.

Whether you start in Honors or join later, you’ll experience challenging courses and meaningful academic opportunities.

Benefits of participating in honors:

1 Individualized curriculum

Honors students work with a faculty advisor to create a unique curriculum that lets them explore their interests.

2 Challenging courses

Students are required to take several honors courses and advised to schedule honor/upper division courses to meet requirements in the General Education section of the honors curriculum.

3 Priority scheduling

Students are given priority scheduling once enrolled in the program.

4 Special recognition

Honors courses are designated as such on official university transcripts. Students who complete their honors program with at least a 3.4 CPHR and satisfactorily complete the honors thesis and exam will graduate with honors research distinction in their major area of study.

Eligibility

Students are eligible for the CFAES Honors Program if they are working towards a bachelor's degree in one of the CFAES majors.
