The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences offers a number of graduate degree options including MS, PhD, and professional degrees. As a graduate student, you can perform research at our many locations, including the Columbus campus, Wooster campus, or our statewide locations including 11 agricultural research stations or numerous field plots. Our faculty have broad research interests, ranging from bioengineering sustainable materials to international agricultural trade and policy. Dual and combined degrees

Interested students can pursue dual or combined degrees. These options allow students to broaden their expertise and enhance their credentials by pursuing two distinct degrees at Ohio State and complete them in less time by sharing credits between them.

  • A dual degree program is when a student enrolls in two separate graduate programs (programs under the jurisdiction of Ohio State's Graduate School). This can be a master's degree and either another master's degree or even a doctoral degree. By sharing credits, it's possible to complete two 2-year master's programs in only three years. Common dual degree choices for CFAES students include public affairs and city and regional planning, but the choices are not limited to these.
  • A combined degree program is when a student is simultaneously enrolled in a graduate program (under the jurisdiction of Ohio State's Graduate Program) and either an undergraduate program (e.g. a Bachelor of Science) or a professional program (e.g. law).

Not all degree options can be dual or combined degrees, so you should check with each individual program coordinator first. Students must apply separately to each intended program, but you can begin one program and then apply to the second one at a later point.

International Language Testing

International applicants whose native language is not English are required to complete approved ESL proficiency testing as part of the admission process. These tests help ensure students are prepared for academic success in a graduate‑level environment.
