COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State University’s Forestry Forum, a group for students working toward forestry careers, will hold its annual Christmas tree sale from Dec. 5-8 behind the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center, 2201 Fred Taylor Drive, on the university’s campus in Columbus.

Proceeds will support the group’s activities, which include educational events for its members and the granting of more than $2,000 in scholarships annually.

Ohio State’s forestry-related majors are offered by its School of Environment and Natural Resources, part of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

“This is our largest revenue-producing event of the year,” said Forum President Ben Robinson, a junior from Mt. Vernon majoring in forestry, fisheries and wildlife. “Monies from the sale fund student scholarships, trips to academic meetings and other student activities on campus.”

The trees in the sale will be 6- to 9-foot Ohio-grown Fraser firs, blue spruces, and Scotch and white pines priced at $35 to $85.

Ohio State faculty, staff and students can get a 10-percent discount by bringing a copy of the sale flier or, to save paper, by displaying it on a mobile device. The flier can be downloaded at http://go.osu.edu/ChristmasTreeDiscount (pdf).

“The sale helps generate revenue that allows the club to engage in professional development activities such as networking with forestry professionals and participating in forestry-related competitions, said Forum Treasurer Beth Ritterholz, a junior from Thornton, Colo., majoring in forestry, fisheries and wildlife and specializing in forestry. “It gives us opportunities to not only fund our club activities but also to grow as a team.”

Hours are noon to dark Thursday, Dec. 5; 9 a.m. to dark, Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 7; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, or while supplies last.
