C-MASC Soil Seminar
2021 Autumn Semester Soil Seminar
Please join the CFAES Rattan Lal Center for Carbon Management and Sequestration (C-MASC) biweekly for presentations a about the latest research on soil science. Guests will include postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and invited scholars in the fields of soil science and climate change.
The seminars will occur bi-weekly on Fridays, 4:00pm - 5:00pm on Zoom.

27 August: Umesh Acharya – Soil moisture prediction using meteorological data, satellite imagery, and machine learning in the Red River Valley
Dr. Acharya will present his thesis work from North Dakota State University.
10 September: Kathleen Bridges – Farm management patterns revealed in Stark Sustainable Soil Initiative
Dr. Bridges will present her latest research for the Stark Sustainable Soil Initiative, supported by the HW Hoover Foundation.

8 October: Srabani Das – Soil carbon dynamics in wetness-prone marginal soils under perennial grass bioenergy crops of Northeastern United States
Dr. Das will present her latest research from Stark County in collaboration with Kent State and supported by the HW Hoover Foundation.
22 October: José Mª Álvarez de la Puente – Biochar from forest by-products to replace peat moss
Dr. Álvarez de la Puente will present his research about biochar.
5 November: Waseem Hassan – Spatial distribution of Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) in various agroecological systems of Punjab
Dr. Hassan will present his latest research about SOC in Punjab.
19 November: Nall Moonilall – Impact of topsoil depth and amendment application on soil health and agronomic productivity in central Ohio
Mr. Moonilall will present his latest research.
