Critical Impact: Latinx Identity in 2020 (Cancelled)

2020 will be known as a critical year for health, the environment, elections, protests, economics, and survival. What is the impact of COVID-19, Black Lives Matter, immigration, the census, and politics on our communities? How do we identify Latinx communities, and more importantly how do we support each other during one of the most divisive time periods in the 21st Century? In this shifting landscape, what is the “new normal” and how do we pivot with it professionally and personally. This will be a collective conversation on Latinx identity in the workplace and how we negotiate and network in this new normal of changing and uncertain environments.

Sonia BasSheva Mañjon, PhD

Possessing a deep commitment to racial and gender equity, social justice and decades of experience leading systemic change, Dr. Mañjon’s career spans more than 25 years in higher education, nonprofit management, government administration, and public and private sector consulting. Sonia is a 2006 alumna of LeaderSpring’s Fellowship program, which for over two decades has equipped more than 500 social sector executives with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to lead high-performing organizations and drive lasting change. Since becoming Executive Director of LeaderSpring Center (LSC), she has steered the organization to deepen its commitment to elevating and strengthening the vision, voice, power, and leadership of women of color. With a passion for promoting leaders of color, she led LSC’s collaboration with the Kapor Center to research the lack of advancement and promotion of women of color in the technology workforce.
