  3. Time Lapse: Chadwick Arboretum's Green Roof

    This time-lapse video shows the installation of the green roof on Ohio State University's Howlett Hall from Aug. 14 through Sept. 11. Placed on top of a newly installed conventional roof, the green roof will extend the life of the roof by decades, reduce utility costs during the summer, and prevent 200,000 gallons of stormwater runoff from entering the Olentangy River watershed each year.

    Since 2010, OSU Extension, the outreach arm of Ohio State University's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, has devoted a growing portion of its resources to work on shale energy issues. Landowners can go to http://shalegas.osu.edu for information about shale development, leasing, taxation issues, pipelines, water resources, community impacts and other issues related to shale development.

    U.S. Agriculture Acting Deputy Secretary Michael Scuse met with Ohio State University researchers at the Wilma H. Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park on Thursday, May 30, 2013.

    Acting Deputy Secretary Scuse toured Ohio State's Wetland Research Park and discussed the importance of maintaining a firm commitment to soil conservation and wetland protection. Continued research and innovation in the preservation of Ohio natural resources will help preserve wildlife habitats and build strong local economies related to hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation.
