Overview

The Leica S6D is a versatile stereo dissecting microscope equipped with the NightSea fluorescence system, enabling fluorescence imaging on whole specimens without any modification to the microscope. Ideal for dissection, genotype screening, and fluorescence visualization of transgenic organisms, whole organs, and large tissue samples.

Key Features

  • NightSea fluorescence system with multiple excitation/emission combinations
  • MC170HD digital camera for image capture
  • No sectioning required — image intact specimens directly
  • Easy switching between fluorescence wavelength sets
  • Compatible with a wide range of fluorescent proteins and fluorophores

Common Applications

  • Screening of transgenic organisms — Drosophila, zebrafish, C. elegans
  • Genotype sorting and fluorescence-aided dissection
  • Whole-mount fluorescence imaging of plant and animal tissue
  • Pre-screening samples before confocal or electron microscopy
