Zeiss PALM Microbeam — Laser Capture Microdissection
Precision cell and tissue isolation for downstream molecular analysis. Located in Selby Hall.
Overview
Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM) allows researchers to isolate specific cells or regions of tissue from thin microscopic sections without altering the sample. The isolated material can then be used for downstream analysis of DNA, RNA, protein, or metabolites. Cryo-sections can be prepared in-house using our Thermo Scientific Shandon Cryotome SMA with Leica CryoJane tape transfer system before microdissection.
Key Features
- Isolate specific cells or tissue regions with precision — no sample alteration
- Compatible with paraffin-embedded and cryo-sectioned tissue
- Collected samples suitable for DNA, RNA, protein, and metabolite analysis
- Thermo Scientific Shandon Cryotome SMA with Leica CryoJane tape transfer system for cryosection handling
Common Applications
- Isolating specific cell populations from heterogeneous tissue
- Gene expression studies on targeted cell types
- Protein and metabolite analysis from microdissected regions
- Research requiring precise spatial sampling of tissue sections
