Growing true leaders
Since May 2017, Cathann A. Kress, PhD, has served as Ohio State vice president for agricultural administration and dean of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES), but she got her start in 4-H. Kress began her 4-H career with the Share and Win 4-H Club in Iowa where she took sheep and public speaking projects.
Like many 4-H alumni, Kress credits 4-H with teaching her many of the skills needed to propel her to success and help her stand out among her peers: “4-H showed me how to be an effective leader and taught me responsibility, confidence, and resiliency.”
In addition to her involvement as a youth member, 4-H has also been a part of Kress’ career journey. She has served in many roles at the county, state, and national level:
-
4-H EXTENSION EDUCATOR
-
STATE 4-H SPECIALIST
-
STATE 4-H LEADER
-
INTERIM 4-H FOUNDATION DIRECTOR
-
NATIONAL 4-H PROGRAM LEADER AT THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
-

-

““My love for 4-H has stood the test of time, and today, I not only consider myself a proud 4-H alumna, but also a donor and advocate for the program.””Cathann A. Kress
